POINT COMFORT, TEXAS (NOV. 13, 2024) – Formosa Plastics Corporation, Texas is sponsoring a Blessing Box in the City of Point Comfort, Texas. The box is conveniently located in front of Formosa’s Training & Development Center (corner of Lamar and Wood Streets/former Point Comfort Elementary School) to make it easy for people to donate food and other necessities for those in need.
The idea originated from Formosa’s Human Resources Team. The company’s Polyolefins/I/Civil Maintenance Department helped bring the idea to fruition.
HR Manager Laurie Harvey said, “Our Generalist, Sue Martinez, came to the HR Team asking if we could build a Blessing Box for Point Comfort as a team building project. The team embraced the opportunity…voted on the design, paint colors and collaborated with PO I/Civil Maintenance to fabricate an aluminum structure to withstand our coastal elements. The end result is adorable. The HR Team collected non-perishable food and personal hygiene items to “seed” the box initially. We hope the entire Formosa site and Point Comfort community will then adopt this initiative and help us help the community.”
On Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 8:30 a.m., the Port Lavaca Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting to celebrate the official opening of the Blessing Box.
