Sportsmen's for Charity Club (501(c)(3) organization), made up of Formosa Plastics Corporation, Texas employees, raised $150,000 for local charities this year. The Club hosted a Formosa Hook & Cook for Charity event June 25-26, 2022 at the Bauer Community Center in Port Lavaca, Texas. The fundraising event offered many activities including: an adult fishing tournament, kids’ fishing tournament, cornhole tournament, washers’ tournament and a crawfish cook-off. There was live music, food and drinks, and several great door and raffle prizes available to both participants and spectators. With over 100 teams participating in the different competitions, and the overwhelming support of many sponsors, this year’s event exceeded all expectations.
The Sportsmen’s for Charity Club President Charlie Barton spoke on behalf of the Board and said, “This year’s event, organized by a group of Formosa employees who have a love for the outdoors and giving back to their communities, was a huge success. We are extremely grateful for the outpouring of support from the participants, sponsors, volunteers, donors and Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A.”
Now that the 2nd Annual Formosa Hook & Cook Event has concluded, the Sportsmen’s for Charity Club Board members are evaluating local charities and organizations to determine how the proceeds will be donated based on the needs of the local communities.
