JUNE 14, 2023, POINT COMFORT, TEXAS – To support sustainability initiatives in Calhoun County, Formosa Plastics Corporation, Texas awarded a $670,000 grant from the Formosa Plastics Environmental Endowment Fund Trust to Calhoun County, Texas, on June 14, 2023, at the Commissioners’ Court meeting.
Vern Lyssy, Calhoun County Commissioner Precinct #2, said, “We appreciate the grant from Formosa Plastics because it will help us to convert the Calhoun County Recycle Center into a transfer station. A transfer station will be able to hold more recyclable materials. We also anticipate reducing the number of transport trips to Corpus Christi, Texas thus reducing our carbon footprint.
On June 5, 2023, Formosa Plastics Corporation, Texas also donated $40,000 to the City of Point Comfort to help start a recycling program. This donation went towards the costs of the recycle bins, as well as the curbside pickup service for residents.
